Bicycling is more of a lifestyle than a trend. Europeans have demonstrated how bicycling contributes to the sense of community while minimizing automotive traffic. As the "Green" movement continues to gain strength in the United States and people realize the health and energy conserving benefits of riding a bicycle, ridership could easily double in the next three years. Research has shown that cities with BikeShare programs have an increase in bike ownership.

Bikes can become a personalized extension of the individual, unless the lack of parking keeps people chained to light poles and riding a beater. How can commuters feel safe locking their ride home to a light pole or rack on the street?

Available space, theft and vandalism are three obstacles needing to be addressed as cities view the Bicycle's humble part as a transportation alternative. BikeValet's goal is to provide safe and secure bike parking at an affordable rate that encourages widespread use in all major metro cites throughout the US and abroad.

Responding to the increasing need for secure bicycle parking, we have developed a fully automated storage and retrieval bike parking system. Providing unlimited city wide parking for commuters, tourists and bicycle enthusiasts will allow this Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant system to become a critical component to Bicycle Master Plans as cities work to increase bicycle ridership. With the use of renewable energy as an energy source, this DC powered system will meet all expectations from security to accessibility while utilizing proven technology.
